Food Law A Key Part of the 33rd Annual Meeting of the American Agricultural Law Association



From October 18-20, the American Agricultural Law Association (AALA) will hold its 33rd Annual Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. The AALA has been serving the agricultural law community for more than thirty years, and focuses on addressing the legal needs of the agricultural community.  Each year, the AALA annual conference features a range of topics that reflect the emerging diversity of legal issues impacting on U.S. and global food system.  A copy of the brochure for this year's conference as well as other conference information is available on the AALA website, or by clicking here

In addition to a host of other topic areas, this year's conference will feature a variety of food law issues.  Food Law topics this year will include:


  • An update on annual developments in food law by Professor Susan Schneider, Director of the Graduate Program in Agricultural and Food Law at the University of Arkansas School of Law; 
  • A session titled, Anatomy of a Food Outbreak:  Forensic Investigation to Regulatory Action will feature Dr. Susan Lance, U.S. Food and Drug Administration; Dr. John R. Dunn, Tennessee Department of Health; and Maureen Kelly Moseman, University of Nebraska College of Law; and
  • A session titled, The Pros and Cons of Cottage Food Regulation, featuring Beth Crocker, General Counsel, South Carolina Department of Agriculture; Jason Foscolo, Jason Foscolo LLC; and Jason Jones, Charlotte School of Law.
