USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack has announced (official USDA Press Release available here) the Planting Transferability Pilot Project in seven states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin. The Pilot Project was authorized under the 2008 Farm Bill and allows producers in the pilot states to plant vegetables on base acres enrolled in the Direct and Counter-Cyclical Program.
