Study on Benefits of Organics Released

On Wednesday, British researchers from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine released a study that found organic foods have no more nutritional or health benefits when compared to foods conventionally raised. For the Reuters article on MSNBC.com, click here.

According to the article,
[a] systematic review of 162 scientific papers published in the scientific literature over the last 50 years, however, found there was no significant difference.
Researchers did admit that there was small differences in the nutrient content between the two types of foods, but the difference was unlikely to have any affect on health.

This study comes as organic food sales have slowed due to the global recession, and consumers cutting back on higher priced organic foods. For other posts on the slow down in organic food sales, click here.
