
On August 21, 2009, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued a news release advising the public that the National Aquatic Health Plan for the United States has been published in the Federal Register, is available for review, and is available for public comment. Public comments must be submitted by October 20, 2009.
USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, the Fish and Wildlife Service of the Department of Interior, and the National Marine Fisheries Service of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of the Department of Commerce all participated in the task force that designed the plan. The plan is a framework for how the aforementioned agencies should devise programs to combat diseases that affect aquatic animal health.
