This Week is National Farm Safety Week

This week is the 66th annual National Farm Safety Week, and as such the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service (CSREES) is joining with the National Safety council and the National Educational Center For Agricultural Safety to promote farm health and safety by making various safety article and public service announcements available. According to the news release by the CSREES, the agency “supports farm safety initiatives through the AgrAbility Program and Youth Farm Safety Education and Certification programs. These programs provide opportunities for disabled farmers and ranchers to continue to be successful in agricultural ventures and address youth farm safety education and certification in keeping youth and youth agricultural workers safe.”

Additionally, the CSREES supports various other farm safety programs that provide education in combine safety, fire prevention, and car and tractor roadway safety, among many others. “Through federal funding and leadership for research, education and extension programs, CSREES focuses on investing in science and solving critical issues impacting people's daily lives and the nation's future.”
