Wednesday's Testimony Slow in Poultry Litigation

On Wednesday, the fight continued in the poultry litigation to the admissibility of evidence, according to the Tulsa World’s Curtis Killman. Judge Frizzell would not allow into evidence the admission of one state report dealing with pollution in the Illinois River watershed. But the judge did allow other reports to be admitted into evidence.

One admitted report found “a ‘significant increase’ in the number of animals, primarily poultry, that are being raised in the” watershed, according to the World article. Another reported documented “more than 86% of the 570,000 pounds of phosphorus that enters Lake Tenkiller annually was associated with runoff[,]” according the World article. But the studies failed to link any of the poultry companies to the phosphorus.
