GMA’s 2010 Food Claims & Litigation Conference

Legal practitioners working in the field of food law may want to consider attending the Grocery Manufacturers Association’s (GMA) 2010 Food Claims & Litigation Conference: Emerging Issues in Food-Related Litigation, which is being held February 23-25, 2010 in Austin, Texas. The event is advertised as providing lawyer and attendees with the most “up-to-the-minute information on the industry’s most critical legal and regulatory concerns.”

Topics that will be covered during the conference’s General Sessions include “Recent Developments in Product Liability Cases,” “Emerging trends in Foodborne Illness Litigation,” “Micro-Contaminants in Food: Emerging Legislative Regulatory and Litigation Trends,” “A Thirty-Year Retrospective on Trial Sciences,” “Food Allergens: Understanding the Science and Avoiding the Pitfalls,” “Mass Tort 911: The Company’s Been Sued! Now What?,” “What the Federal Government Is Doing to Improve Food Safety: Fact and Fiction,” and “What Every Food Industry Defense Lawyer Need to Know about Bankruptcy.” And all this is just the first day.

Many more topic areas will be covered by experts the following day as well. Topics will include issues involving food labeling and litigation, food recalls, food flavoring litigation, and trends in global food litigation. For those engaged in food law in any of its many different forms, this conference could be invaluable. Additionally, many states have approved the conference for MCLE credits. Certification of attendance will be provided for each registered attendee at the end of the conference.
