Farm Credit Announces National Communications Program

Farm Credit System announced its launch of a new national communications program today.  Some features of this program include a "new national online presence" at www.farmcredit.com, an updated national giving and sponsorship program, and a communications team "to build awareness of Farm Credit and its unique mission among those it serves."

The website features the following: information about Farm Credit's structure, financial information, a tool to find a local Farm Credit System organization, information and a tool to apply for grants and scholarships, and contact information for System representatives.

Farm Credit System is a network of borrower-owned cooperatives that was created in 1916 to serve as a dependable source of credit services for agriculture and rural America.  The Farm Credit Administration was created in 1933 as an independent Federal agency that regulates the System.  The Farm Credit Act of 1971 expanded the services Farm Credit could offer, including rural home mortgages, leasing, and utility lending.  The Farm Credit Insurance Corporation was created through the Agricultural Credit Act of 1987 to ensure that the System's notes, bonds, and other obligations were paid in a timely manner.
