Health Organizations Express Support for EPA Regulation of GHGs

Several health organizations urged the President and Congress to allow the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to regulate greenhouse gas emissions, according to The Hill's Energy and Environment Blog.

The American Medical Association, the American Lung Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American College of Preventative Medicine are among the groups who sent the letter.

The letter states, "In order to prepare for changes already under way, it is essential to strengthen our public health system so it is able to protect our communities from the health effects of heat waves, wildfires, floods, droughts, infectious diseases, and other events."  The letter continues, saying that "we must also address the root problem, which means reducing the emissions that contribute to climate change."
