Survey Shows Optimism about Agriculture and Economy

Bloomberg reports that according to a survey by DTN/The Progressive Farmer, farmers in the United States are more optimistic about the economy than they were in April.

The survey involved an index score, with April's index score being 100 and the current index score at 180.3.  US "net-farm income will increase 24 percent this year to $77.1 billion as livestock sales expand and exports push crop prices higher" according to the Department of Agriculture.

Farm exports "may reach $107.5 billion in the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, up 2.9 percent from the previous year and the second-highest ever, as the global economy boosted beef and pork demand and soybean exports rose."

The next survey will take place in December, after harvests.
