
The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) Meeting is set for January 9-12 in Atlanta. Conference topics will include the 2012 farm bill, issues surrounding food safety, farmers' use of social media, and animal welfare.
The AFBF Meeting will feature numerous speakers, each an authority in his field. Chairman of the USDA's World Agriculture Outlook Board, Gerald Bange, will provide insight on supply and demand. Chairman of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, Bryan Shaw, will discuss the Environmental Protection Agency's attempts to regulate greenhouse gases. Florida's Agricultural Commissioner, Charles Bronson, will discuss the establishment of numeric nutrient criteria.
Additionally, a panel of speakers will address "Grassroots Engagement with Social Media," which will feature representatives from Ohio Farm Bureau, Farm Bureau, AgChat Foundation, and California ranchers. Over five thousand Farm Bureau members are expected to attend the AFBF Meeting, and they can register through their state Farm Bureaus.
