Oklahoma Representative Will Chair House Agriculture Committee

Representative Frank Lucas of Oklahoma has been elected by the House Republican Conference to serve as Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee. Lucas is the first Representative from Oklahoma elected to this position for the 112th Congress.

Lucas, a lifelong farmer, has served on the Agriculture Committee since he was first elected to Congress in 1994. He holds a degree in Agricultural Economics from Oklahoma State University. He is in his ninth term in Congress, previously serving for five and a half years in the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

One of Lucas' goals as Chair is to hold oversight hearings on the Environmental Protection Agency, which he stated has "demonstrated a fondness for overreaching regulations that defy Congressional intent and threaten production agriculture and rural economies."

Lucas says he will help America's farmers and ranchers "produce the safest, most affordable, most abundant food, fiber, feed, and fuel supply in the history of the world."
