Keynote Speaker Announced for Ohio's Largest Sustainable Food and Farm Conference

Joan Dye Gussow, an active leader in the local food movement, will speak on Sunday, February 20 as part of Ohio's Sustainable Food and Farm Conference. The Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association's 32nd annual conference titled "Inspiring Farms, Sustaining Communities," will be held February 19-20 in Granville, Ohio.

Dr. Gussow serves as chair of the Columbia University Teachers College Nutrition Department and is the author of several books on nutrition including This Organic Life: Confessions of a Suburban Homesteader; The Feeding Web: Issues in Nutritional Ecology; and Chicken Little, Tomato Sauce, and Agriculture: Who Will Produce Tomorrow's Food?

Primarily identifying herself as a gardener above all else, Dr. Gussow's latest book titled Growing, Older is based on the loss of her husband. When they married 40 years ago, the couple began eating seasonally by growing their own food in their front yard vegetable garden. The book explores her hopeful attitude of continuing her self-sustaining way of life even in the absence of her husband.

Dr. Gussow's speech is titled "Where have we been? Where are we going?" and will be given on Sunday, February 20. For more information on the conference, click here.
