The USDA has announced that One Great Burger, a company in Elizabeth, N.J., has recalled 226,400 pounds of ground beef products. Complaints of strange odors and discoloration led to the discovery that the beef may have spoiled, pursuant to an investigation by the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The company had redistributed products that had been returned and allowed them to be distributed to new customers, which means FSIS considers the products adulterated. There have been no reports of illnesses associated with consumption of One Great Burger products. The recalled product is a 20 lb. box labeled "ONEGREAT HAMBURGERS ITEM #02044."
