
Some reduced-fat jars of Skippy peanut butter may contain salmonella, according to Unilever United States, the company that produces the product. Unilever says no illnesses have resulted from the potential contamination.
Two varieties of Skippy peanut butter are involved in the recall, which are 16.3 ounce jars of reduced-fat creamy peanut butter as well as reduced-fat chunky peanut butter. The potetnially affected jars have the UPC codes 048001006812 or 048001006782 and may be in sixteen states, which are Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
Skippy issued a statement urging customers to throw away the recalled peanut butter and call 800-453-3432 for a replacement.
