Around the country the demand for vegetable seeds has climbed to record highs. According to an article in today's Washington Post, sales at the D. Landreth Seed Company are up 75% this spring over the same time last year. Seed producers and merchants across the United States are reporting the same phenomenon of crazy demand and even some shortages, especially of staples like beans, potatoes and lettuces.
