Four Loko agrees to place warning label on products

Last week, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued a release announcing settlement of its administrative complaint against Phusion Projects, LLC and principals, for deceptive advertising of "Four Loko," malt beverage.

The FTC alleged that Phusion falsely claimed a 23.5 ounce can of Four Loko contained the alcohol equivalent to two 12-ounce beers, safe for drinking on a single occasion, when in fact it was equivalent to four - five beers - "binge drinking" on a single occasion. The settlement requires certain disclosures on large containers and use of only resealable large containers, and prohibits misrepresentations of alcohol content and depictions of people drinking directly from large containers.
